Advanced Technology

We are excited about technology! Dr. Boesch and our team pour over trade journals and regularly attend seminars, conferences, and classes to learn about the latest and greatest dental tools. However, we are careful to not buy into gimmicks and create expensive procedures. We think technology is really cool and have purchased the technology that will allow us to provide a more comfortable and safe patient experience. It also helps with accurate diagnostics for more conservative procedures. Here are a few of the reasons we love technology :

Painless Injections with Dental Vibe:
Dr. Boesch and Dr. Shah work hard to provide painless dental care. We take a lot of extra steps to make you comfortable and relaxed. Unless you want detailed step by step play guide, we want you to be able to relax and be relatively unaware of what we are doing. Just great dentistry. One of our special tools is the Dental Vibe.
DentalVibe® alleviates the anxiety of oral injections by massaging the nerves and tissue around the injection site for better dental experiences. That helps people smile more every day.

Patients who experience an injection with DentalVibe are often unaware when the injection actually occurs. DentalVibe
is especially helpful in reducing dental fear among children. In fact, many patients have said that if such a tool had been available when they were younger, their dental fears would never have begun.

As many as 40 million Americans refuse to go to the dentist because of a fear of needles. But if you’re skipping out on recommended dental care, you’re putting more than just your smile at risk. Recent research indicates that the health of your mouth reflects the health of your body as a whole.

DentalVibe is a unique tool that can help alleviate dental fear and anxiety, allowing you to get the dental treatment you
need to stay healthy. DentalVibe provides gentle vibration to the site of the dental injection. This vibration overloads the nerve that sends pain signals to the brain so that you don’t register the pain or discomfort from the injection. The sound
of the vibration creates an added distraction, and the vibration also helps disperse the anesthesia once it’s injected so
that it can work even faster.

Lasers, tissue laser:

We have a tissue laser that can make many procedures faster, more comfortable, and with faster healing! Imagine fixing an uneven gumline or getting rid of a gummy smile in one quick pain-free visit! Biopsies, grafts, and treating cold sores can easily be accomplished.

Laser Cavity Detector, Diagnodent:

Laser Cavity Detector (Diagnodent) helps to diagnose cavities when they are really small so we can preserve as much tooth structure as possible!
The Laser Cavity Detector is PAINLESS and super easy way to detect cavities. Normally dentists use their eyes to evaluate the surface of the tooth, x-rays, and a pick to feel for soft enamel. Small cavities can be easily missed. There has to be a significant amount of dense decay before it is visible on an x-ray. Basically, the cavity has to be of a good size before we can see it. Teeth are formed by lobes coming together. This creates grooves and valleys. Sometimes our instruments are too large to be able to get into these grooves to feel for the cavities. In addition, sometimes we have a hard time discerning between staining in a groove and a cavity forming.
The Laser Cavity Finder is awesome! It easily flows over the tooth structure and emits a noise when there is damage to the tooth. Now we don’t have to wait until cavities create big holes in your teeth! We can catch cavities early and sometimes correct the damage without fillings! It also will not make a noise is it is just staining in a groove so we can be certain that what we are treatment planning is accurate!

DIAGNODENT
  • A laser examination tool for the early detection of decay.
  • Even very small lesions can be detected at the earlist stages.
  • Earlier treatment - Better outcomes
How It Works
  • The Diagnodent device measures laser fluorescence within the tooth structure.
  • As the incident laser light is propagated into the site, two-way hand-piece optics allows the unit to simultaneously quantify the reflected laser light energy.
  • At the specific wavelength that the device operates(655 nm), clean healthy tooth structure exhibits little or no fluorescence, resulting in very low scale readings on the display.
  • However, carious tooth structure will exhibit fluorescence, proportionate to the degree of caries, resulting in elevated scale readings on the display.
  • The device is designed as an adjunct to a traditional oral examination in the detection of occlusal decay.
  • Teeth that are suspicious for caries are ideal candidates for survey with the device.

Intraoral Cameras:

So you can see what we see!
By far one of my favorite tools in the office, is the intra oral camera. It is a wand with a really small camera that allows us to take photos inside your mouth. I love patients being able to see what we see. It helps a lot to be able to visualize what is actually going on and understand what our options are. It is also great for being able to “watch” teeth or keep a record and see if there have been any changes since your last visit.

Newest in X-rays:

We have a brand new x-ray head that produces the lowest dose of radiation on the market. Do you ever stand in front of your microwave? Do you fly airplanes? You will get more radiation standing in front of your microwave for 1 minute or taking one short flight than if we take 100 x-rays!.

Magnification & Light:

Dr. Boesch uses magnification for all procedures to make sure she is doing the most conservative treatment possible. There is also a light on her loupes so that the bright overhead light doesnt have to be shinning in your eyes like the old days. Imagine what a more careful and precise job can be done with a spotlight directed only on your tooth and with the tooth blown up 4.5 times its size!

Digital Photography:

We use digital photography in diagnostics and case presentation. Digital images give us a detailed look at your teeth and gums for accurate diagnosis and more conservative treatment. We also take before and after photos, so you and we can see the transformation of your smile. Its just another way we show you value! The proof is always in the pudding or, in this case, the pictures.
